Since some weeks everyday another user calls and tells me he doesn't get mails. After hitting the update folders button or closing and reopen outlook new mails get visible. Reinstalled office, deleted ost, made a ne outlook profile. By taking proactive steps to manage your mailbox, you can prevent issues related to storage limits and ensure that your Outlook inbox continues to update properly. When you synchronize your Exchange mailbox to an Offline Folder file (.ost), the Outlook status bar never shows higher than 3.99 GB when a folder is being updated.
Check Disk Space
Outlook alternates between "Updating this folder" and "Trying to connect". A manual send/receive fails with a "Connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable message". I loaded an old mail profile for the same user account and it worked fine, when I switched back to the initial profile it started to work fine as well.
A vast community of Microsoft Office365 users that are working together to support the product and others. To see if it is the same issue, open your exchange server’s event viewer and filter event 9646.You need to make sure your OutlookAnywhere and AutoDiscover settings are setup properly along with Split-DNS.After looking into it more, as the user above stated, this seems to be cache related so I nixed that on the shared box too.For Exchange 2013, OutlookAnywhere is a requirement and Split-DNS is Best Practice.Things work well for a number of days or weeks but the problem reoccurs eventually.

If the antivirus program isn't Outlook friendly, you may experience certain issues while using Outlook. To check whether the antivirus app is preventing Outlook from updating the Inbox or Outbox folder, temporarily disable the antivirus program and restart Outlook. If the issue is resolved, exclude Outlook processes, Outlook data files, [Outlook Stuck on Synchronizing Folders](https://lawrencewilbert.com/read-blog/26255_how-to-recover-ost-files.html) and folder locations from your antivirus program. The SVC record had to be updated in DNS, which was the cause of the autodiscover issue in my last post.
Internet connectivity issues
Client logs and RPC logs on Exchange just show frequent connections and disconnections for the affected user, and I can’t find any other errors. Open RPC connections on Exchange during business hours is about 300 which seems manageable. If some of these Exchange PowerShell commands error out, don’t worry, these are to provide everything from Exchange 2013 back to 2007. In this guide, we’ll take you through simple, [FixTechGuide Office 365 troubleshooting](https://kitsap.whigdev.com/read-blog/89174_view-directory-synchronization-errors-in-microsoft-365-microsoft-365-enterprise.html) step-by-step methods to identify the issue and fix Outlook’s sync problem efficiently. Check Outlook Email Account Settings
Every affected user has recently been upgraded to Windows 7 64-bit, while I have not had any 32-bit client users report any similar issue. So all signs are pointing to the individual client but I can’t figure out what it is. With automatic send/receive enabled and properly configured, you can maintain regular synchronization between Outlook and the email server, keeping [Repair Outlook Profile Online](https://ashok.websitedemourl.com/read-blog/10166_how-to-troubleshoot-common-microsoft-365-problems-and-issues.html) your Inbox up to date. I think this problem is resolved, although since it is so intermittent it may be a while before I’m sure. MTU was set to 1514 on the Exchange server rather than the typical 1500.
Per the article below I updated the Ethernet drivers on the the server to the most recent version and the MTU was automatically set to 1500. Not sure why only certain machines were affected but at this point I’m keeping my fingers crossed. Turning off cached Exchange mode works, but the connection seems to be spotty as Outlook will freeze up after a while. Rebooting, deleting the OST and/or mail profile does not have any effect. Things work well for a number of days or weeks but the problem reoccurs eventually.
If you then allow the synchronization process to fully synchronize the folder, the status bar may eventually indicate the following text. You can set it to a higher number if you desire / need but it works for a user who has 14 mailboxes. The only other thing that I experienced was the ‘bitness’ of some outlook plugins or their application via gpo. Please provide the output from the following commands so that we can check to make sure your settings are set up correctly.
Why is my Outlook Inbox not updating?
For example, you may see the following text in the status bar when your Inbox folder is being synchronized with Exchange. This particular user has her own mailbox and then access to another shared mailbox. As of yesterday, the shared mailbox (for her only) is hung up on "Updating this folder" and will never update or receive new mail. Make sure the system has enough storage, especially the volume where the Outlook data file (OST) is stored.
